Creative biography
Gocha Budagashvili was born on August 20, 1969 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

He entered Tbilisi State Choreographic School in 1979, studying in the class of the prominent Geogian ballet dancer and choreographer Vakhtang Chabukiani. He graduated from the School in 1987.

Budagashvili has worked as ballet dancer in probation group of the Zakhara Paliashvili Tbilisi State Theatre of Opera and Ballet since 1985. He became staff soloist of the Theatre in 1987. He has danced in the following ballets-Gershwin’s “Porgie and Bess”(Robins), Aram Khachaturian’s “Gayane” (Karen), Piotr Tchaikovski’s “Swan Lake”(Jester), Sergey Prokophiev’s “Cindirella”(Prince’s friend), in number of single-act ballets, concerts, national ballets and operas.

He participated in shooting of cinema-ballet “Ali-Baba and forty bandits”, directed by prominent Georgian director Zaal Kakabadze and choreographer Mikhail Lavrovsky.

Budagashvili toured different countries with ballet troupes, including Turkey, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

He has been in the United States in 1991, where participated in the competition for young talents in California and was awarded with the Grand-Prize.
